Monitoring biogenic volatiles (VBOCs) in the forest canopy (2011)
About the project
This project aimed at significantly modifying an existing system for monitoring BVOC emission profiles in the Amazon forest at the Tambopata National Reserve, Madre de Dios. The former system showed it lacked adequate sensitivity to detect temporal variations in day range. A much more sensitive system of passive collection through solid phase micro-extraction associated with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry was proposed to be used. This project is part of the biological monitoring objectives for the Tambopata National Reserve and a large infrastructure investment program of the RAINFOR consortium.
