Metabolic testing of greenhouse-grown maca
About the project
The project focused on the cultivation method and edaphic microbiota effects on the profile and levels of bioactive secondary metabolites in maca hypocotyls. To do so, the metabolic profile of maca tested. Maca was cultivated in three different types of soil and two microorganism inocula two cultivation modalities, vertical and horizontal. Fresh and dried maca hypocotyls were tested, and formation of amides and other secondary metabolites with nutraceutical qualities was observed. The aimed to propose the best greenhouse cultivation method.
