The author verifies and describes in detail the evolution of the environmental problem in La Oroya, since the first warning signs registered in the twenties and thirties of the twentieth century, and wonders why, despite the varied nature of the recovery initiatives formulated by involved actors, it has not been possible to apply final and determined actions to resolve the problem to date.
He delves into the seriousness of this problem and the paradox generated at its core: La Oroya workers know, and have always known, that they live and work in one of the most polluted places in the world. Also, they know that fighting in defense of their health, that of their children and the environment, will lead them to lose their source of work and life.
