Social component of the PUCP project on an energy interconnection system with river generators in High-Andean rural communities in the Cusco and Huancavelica departments
About the project
This project developed a technology that harnesses the energy of streams, channels or rivers to generate electricity and mechanical power for pumping water, called the “PUCP River Generator”.
It is a type of hydraulic wheel designed to work with low speed and low volume horizontal flow. It uses renewable energy, and it is validated by the PUCP Group as easily replicable at low cost and with the highest possible performance. Clean electricity generation thanks to “PUCP River Generators”, in 32 High-Andean villages of Cusco and Huancavelica, provides an essential service in the area of housing improvement, helping to eradicate extreme poverty. INTE developed the socio-economic diagnosis of involved communities and developed workshops for the population on technology adoption.
