Chemical ecology of tropical disease vector-insects
About the project
The purpose was to assess the efficacy of new surveillance methods for sandflies in the Peruvian Amazon, and to point out species that might be potential leishmaniasis vectors, through chemical characterization by means of gas chromatographic testing, followed by mass spectroscopy. The idea was to advance knowledge on chemical mechanisms connected to the reproductive process and characterization of individuals in populations of hematophagous insects that are vectors of infectious diseases.
